Pre-Production

We believe that a successful video starts well before filming. During this stage we develop the strategy, clarify the message, and lay the groundwork for a smooth shoot.

Pre-production sets the plan that makes your projects successful.

We believe that investing in the proper time and energy in the pre-production process can help the rest of the video creation process run smoothly, and have the best possible outcome for your project.

How We Do This:

1. Finding Your Story

Every project starts with understanding why you’re creating the video and who it’s for.

We work closely with you to:

  • Clarify your goals and audience.
  • Identify the core message you want to communicate.
  • Help you tell your story that best represents your brand, product, or idea.

Whether it’s a marketing video, testimonial, internal messaging, or documentary-style piece, we help you share your message that will resonate most with your audience.

2. Choose the Best Way to Tell It

Once the story is clear, we determine the most effective way to tell it.

This includes:

  • Defining the tone, style, and pacing of the video.
  • Deciding on interview-driven, scripted, or hybrid approaches.
  • Work with you to develop your script, come up with interview questions, and/or storyboard what the final video will look like.

Our goal is to make sure your story isn’t just told—but told in the right way that makes it visual appealing as well.

3. Planning the Shoot for Success

Now that we have a plan for telling your story, we next plan how to film it, based on your timeline and budget.

We will determine:

  • How big of a crew we need.
  • What equipment would we need in terms of camera, lighting and audio.
  • If it would be beneficial to have a teleprompter.
  • The best location to film.
  • If we want a make-up artist on set.

By handling these details ahead of time, we create a calm, efficient shoot environment where we can focus on making the best video possible.

Pre-production gives us confidence on shoot day.  It helps us feel like the story is clear, the strategy is defined, the crew is prepared, and the shoot runs smoothly.
